Alissa Walser

1961  Born in Friedrichshafen
1981 - 1986   Studies painting in Vienna and New York;
    via painting, she begins to write. After her return from the USA, she feels the need to work more flexibly. Finally, she paints only with felt markers.
    As an author, she belongs to the PEN Center of the Federal Republic of Germany

Prizes and Awards

1992   Ingeborg Bachmann Prize and Bettina von Arnim Prize (among others)
2000   Literature stipend from the Märkische Kulturkonferenz
2004   Villa Massimo stipend
